Photo Slideshow Component (retired)

Present images in an attention-grabbing, interactive format. Clickable controls manual cycling through the images, and the choice to show or hide captions.

This has been replaced by the new Photo Gallery component and can no longer be added to a page. Please manually replace any old components with the new version.

Using This Component

Add the component to the page. There is one initial tab: Photo slideshow. Once you choose the source of the images, a second tab appears.

The component works best in the six-column format on the default "Standard Page with Right Sidebar" template.

Photo Slideshow Tab

Build your photo slideshow easily from a folder in the Digital Assets Manager (DAM) or use the Fixed List option to manually select individual images from a variety of folders.

Build slideshow using: Choose from DAM folder or Fixed List.

Hide captions: Select to ignore any descriptions that are associated with the images in the DAM.

Build Slideshow Using the DAM

To build a slideshow from a folder on the Digital Asset Manager (DAM), you must first upload a collection of images to the DAM.

Then in this component, for Build slideshow using select DAM Folder.

A new Fixed List tab will appear.

  • Click the magnifying glass icon to the right of the Parent Page field to select a folder from which to display images in your slideshow.

Your photo slideshow will appear.

Build Slideshow Using a Fixed List

For Build slideshow using, select Fixed List.

A new Fixed List tab will appear.

  1. Click the plus sign button (+).
  2. Click the magnifying glass icon, then select the DAM folder in which the image you wish to use is stored and then select your desired image.
  3. To add an additional image, click the + sign. Use the - button to delete an image.
  4. Use the Up and Down buttons to specify the order that the images will be displayed in the list.

Your photo slideshow will appear.

A Live Example

The images shown below were not intended for this use -- you will need to consider that before building your own slideshow.

This component works best with images that are sized/cropped to 447 pixels wide x 246 pixels tall (or a size with a similar ratio).

Restrictions

  1. This will eventually be replaced by the new Photo Gallery component.
  2. The component works best in the six-column format on the default "Standard Page with Right Sidebar" template.
  3. This component may have compatibility issues for RWD-enabled sites (details).
