Forms in Shared Content Break Validation

Published February 12, 2016

When a form is created in shared content and then used on Web pages, built-in features like validation can break.

The Issue

Forms are normally built directly on a Web page and have built-in functionality, such as validation (e.g. 'required' or 'email address required').

When a form is built in Shared Content, and then displayed on a regular Web page, such as through a Shared Content Reference, these features can be affected. In this case, the normal validation is disrupted and users are allowed to not meet these requirements, with no error message being displayed.

Workaround

There is no workaround and we strongly discourage building forms in Shared Content.

If you need have more complex needs for forms that are not well met by the UBCMS, please consider using Formstack (more details).
