Inaccessible Published Page

Published March 21, 2012

The Issue

A page or piece of shared content sometimes is published under a name that no longer exists on the author system. This can happen if a user without publishing rights renames a published page, or possibly for other reasons.

Workaround

To delete the inaccessible published page:

  1. Create a "helper" page or piece of shared content with the same name as the inaccessible published page. The actual page type or content does not matter.
  2. Click deactivate on the helper page. It does not need to be activated first.
  3. Confirm that the inaccessible page is now gone.
  4. Delete the helper page.
