What you need to know

Print

There will be certain times in the coming weeks when Authoring and Publishing are not available.

Publishing does not affect Web pages that have already been published. However, it will affect your ability to activate, deactivate, move or delete pages.

Your sites will still be available for the public to see.

Authoring unavailable

  • Thursday, June 19: 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, June 20: 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 24: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What does Author outage mean?

  • You cannot work on your site at all, or activate pages
  • Even if you still can log in, do not work on your site until you see that the outage is complete. Otherwise, any changes you made will be overriden.

Publishing unavailable

  • June 19: 6 to 9 p.m.
  • June 20: 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Monday, June 23: 8 a.m. onward
  • Tuesday, June 24: continued from previous day to 4 p.m.

What does Publishing outage mean?

  • You CAN work on your sites in Author
  • But you CAN'T activate pages
  • You should not move or delete pages. These actions are executed automatically in the Publishing environment and may cause your changes to be overriden, or pages lost.

What does Author AND Publishing outage mean?

  • You cannot work on your site, or activate changes, at all

What will happen if you try to activate?

  • You will lose your work as it will not be backed up

How will you know you can begin working on your sites again?

  • Notification will be sent to all UBCMS users who have a UBCMS account

What if you have a UBCMS form users fill out?

  • If you created the form in Formstack, it will not be affected by the upgrade
  • If you created the form using the UBCMS component:
    • It will still send emails as indicated in your script
    • It will not record the internaction in your spreadsheet. This is a concern only if you have this set up to record.
    • We will reach to affected units with further instructions

Why upgrade?

It is important to keep the product aligned with the latest Adobe CQ upgrades. This particular upgrade will:

  • smooth out the bugs associated with some components
  • improve the user experience in Internet Explorer
  • provide additional capabilities such as enhanced social media components for possible future use in the UBCMS
