About the Upgrade

Print

This upgrade addresses three specific goals:

  • Maintaining the security, reliability and supportability of the CMS
  • Positioning us to implement the next author interface, TouchUI, later in 2018-19
  • Assuring that authentication works as expected with LDAP groups

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is best able to support us if we are operating a current version of the system.

How Might This Affect Me?

Participate in Testing

As with any system change, there is a possibility that your content may be unexpectedly affected. The best way to minimize the risk for your content is to participate in early testing.

Website owners and managers are identifying authors or publishers who will test the new author system which will be available with a copy of live data, so you can see how your critical content behaves and report problems if they arise.

Defer Edits 4/11-4/15

A side effect of the upgrade process is that any content you enter in your site from Wednesday, April 11 through Sunday, April 15, will have to be re-entered after go-live on April 16. This is the critical time when system upgrades are being applied.

New Site Launches

No new sites will be launched the weeks of April 9th or 16th.

Reporting Problems

During testing and go-live, we are asking all registered testers to share feedback and questions through UBCMS-Upgrade-List@listserv.buffalo.edu. If you wish to become a tester, please contact the DCT Help Team.
