Content Finder (Classic)

Find Digital Assets to add to your webpages.

This information refers to the Classic version of the UBCMS. Classic will be retired in May, 2022.

The Content Finder is the left sidebar that is displayed when you edit a UBCMS page. You can minimize or maximize this sidebar by clicking the small gray arrow within the sidebar’s border (half-way down the window).

The Content Finder has four areas: Six tabs at top, a search bar, a viewing window and the clipboard. .
  • The Content Finder has four areas:
    1. Six tabs at top: Click on each tab to view files from the Digital Asset Manager (DAM) in a viewing window below. (For example, clicking on the Images tab enables you to view image files from the DAM.)
      • Images
      • Documents
      • Movies
      • Pages
      • Paragraphs
      • Browse
    2. Search bar: Appears below the six tabs. Use it to search for files in the DAM. 
    3. Viewing window: Populates with files from the DAM when you click the tabs at the top of the Content Finder. You can drag files from this window into your components. Three small buttons above this window control the way you see content in the viewing window:
      • Refresh: Reloads the files in the Content Finder's viewing window.
      • Mosaic view: Displays files as thumbnails accompanied by filenames.
      • List view: Displays files as thumbnails accompanied by file size, filename and date/time of upload.
    4. Clipboard: Stores copied components so that you can paste them onto your page at a later time. You can minimize or maximize the Clipboard by clicking the small gray arrow fixed within its topmost border.


You can use the Content Finder to access files stored in the DAM. Here's how:

  1. Determine what kind of file you seek and click the tab that corresponds to that file type in the Content Finder.
    • For example, if you wish to add a PDF from the DAM, click the Documents tab on the Content Finder. If you wish to add an image, click the Images tab on the Content Finder.
  2. Once you are in the appropriate tab, locate a file that is stored in the DAM by running a search in the Content Finder's search bar for any of the following information pertaining to your file:
    • Title
    • Description
    • Tags
    • Creator
    • Contributor
    • Language
    • Copyright
    • Copyright owner
    • Usage terms
    • Expires
    • Created with
    • Width
    • Height
    • Person
    • Location
  3. Once you have found the file in the Content Finder, click on it and drag it into the appropriate area of the component editor
    • For example, if you are editing the File Download component and wish to add a PDF, click on the PDF from the Content Finder and drag it into the area in the component editor.
