Collapsible Containers behave unexpectedly during copy or move

Reviewed September 3, 2025

The Issue

Authors have reported when a Collapsible Content Container is dragged, or copy/cut and pasted to another part of the page, the content of the container may change unexpectedly.

Whether the container is expanded or closed, if the author selects the start bar only, then completes the move, the results are unexpected. For example, dragging a Collapsible Content Container above one or more other components on the page, those components can be absorbed inside the container; i.e. if the square brackets [] indicate the container, AB[C]D becomes A[BC]D when it should become A[C]BD.

In the UBCMS, most components can be dragged, or copy/cut and pasted to another part of the page, or a series of components can be moved as a group, and the moved component(s) will retain their own structure and order.  Containers are normally an exception (e.g. Form Containers, Content Optimization Containers), and disrupt these moves, requiring individual action. But we are noticing that Collapsible Content Containers are a special case, and can behave unexpectedly.

Workaround

Long term, we predict a future upgrade will resolve this issue.

Short term, we have the following workaround:

  1. Expand the Collapsible Content Container.
  2. Select the start bar using Shift + Click.
  3. Hold the Shift key then select the end bar using a second click.
  4. The entire container should now be selected including both bars and all the contents nested between.
  5. Release the Shift key.
  6. Click and drag the start bar and its contents to the desired new location or use copy/cut and paste. We suggest using the keyboard shortcuts, Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X and Ctrl-P (or Cmd).
  7. Double check the entire collection stayed the same..
