UBCMS Self-Paced Training

Learn at your own pace with our hands-on videos and exercises.

Once a new user completes the following self-paced training course their supervisor must request access to the UBCMS. Most new users become an 'Author', but in some cases they can also be a 'Publisher' to make their changes live. Read more about UBCMS roles.

Choose how you wish to learn:

  1. Take the self-paced course - Follow the steps of the course below, A through D. Each is independent so you can change the order or even skip sections as desired. (To do the exercises on our Training Server you must first register for a Training account, but if you already have access to the regular Author Server, you can adapt the exercises to your existing site instead.)

  2. The 'lite version' - For a faster runthrough, you may elect to skip the hands-on exercises and just watch the demos. No need to register for a training account, but you can read the associated documentation for more details as needed. (Please only take this approach if it meets the needs set by your unit's Web team.)

  3. Just-in-time - Again, no need to register for a training account. Just choose the topics you need, watch the videos, read the documentation as needed, and even skip the exercises. (Ideal for developers or those already familiar with CMS basics.)
